At Luso American Credit Union protecting the personal and account information of our members is our top priority.  Technological advances have made banking more convenient, but have also increased the occurrences of fraud.  Luso American Credit Union takes many precautions to prevent or minimize fraudulent activity.  Our computer systems are equipped with the following security features: anti-virus software, and firewalls.  In addition, all transactions that are conducted through our online banking site are authenticated and encrypted to assure that these communications are being performed by the appropriate people. 

These precautions are in place to protect you.  Although these safety features are in place to protect your data within the Credit Union, in this age of electronics, there are instances when information is compromised at other locations that may affect your accounts with the Credit Union. 

In recent weeks, many debit and credit card issuing financial institutions nationwide, including Luso American Credit Union, have experienced an increase in card fraud

The fraudulent activity, now under investigation by law enforcement agencies, is apparently part of a nationwide problem involving VISA and MasterCard credit and debit cards.

Some of the Credit Union’s members have been victims of fraudulent transactions.  This fraud, is no the result of any security breach or negligence on the part of Luso American Credit Union.  In cases of fraudulent activity involving debit and credit cards, our members do not realize any loss of funds.  The member is reimbursed for any fraudulent activity in his/her account immediately.
