CONFIDENTIALITY OF
MEMBER INFORMATION
The Luso-American Credit Union has an obligation to its
members to ensure that their account information is not
improperly disclosed. To avoid this risk the Luso-American
Credit Union has developed the following policies and
procedures:
1. Employee training to ensure that all employees are
aware of their responsibility to safeguard members
financial information and also to educate employees
about the tactics used by information brokers to
fraudulently obtain members confidential information.
2. The Luso-American Credit Union prohibits the release
of information over the telephone, unless the proper
authorization code is provided. If this code has not
been set up by the member, the caller ID system will be
used. If the number differs from that in the customer's
account records, the employee should not disclose the
requested account information without taking further
steps to verify that the customer made the request. All
customer information will be held in a secure location.
All illicit attempts to obtain members information will
be reported to the proper authorities.
